Cozy Coffee Shop Makeover in Downtown Honolulu

Stunning remodel of a historic retail space

At Ohana Building Supply, we had the privilege and joy of renovating a historic downtown retail
space into a new and exciting first location for Hello Again Coffee. Using a combination of our
locally stocked quartz countertops and interior wall panels, we were able to quickly and
affordably transform the space from dark and outdated to a modern and welcoming coffee shop.

The space on Nuuanu Avenue originally featured a large black built-in bookcase running most of
the length of the shop. Given its proximity to HPU and downtown, Hello Again wanted to turn
this into a seating area for both students and nine-to-fivers to enjoy. We decided to retain the
vertical portions of the bookcase, and frame the spaces in between into table-height seating
nooks. Hawaiian Snow engineered stone countertops were used as the finish material, acting as
an easy-to-clean and durable table top. The result is a perfect space to take a break, study, and
enjoy a delicious coffee or matcha beverage.

To further enhance these study nooks and make them feel more cozy and inviting, we added
warm oak wall paneling above the tables. This new and trendy material is our latest offering to
Hawaii’s residents and businesses looking to elevate their space without breaking the bank.
Made from water-resistant wood plastic composite, the wall panels are super easy to install and
available in a multitude of finishes ranging from light to dark wood tones. Best of all, they are
in-stock at our Mapunapuna warehouse and ready for pick up today.
